Cementitious Urethane Floor Coating (CU)

For the harshest wet, hot and chemical environments, a cementitious urethane floor is the most durable resin system we install. Goliath Coatings lays cementitious urethane (urethane concrete) floors across Auckland for food and beverage plants, coolstores, breweries and commercial kitchens where epoxy alone would not survive.

What makes cementitious urethane different

Cementitious urethane blends cement, urethane resin and graded aggregate into a thick, dense floor that withstands thermal shock, aggressive chemicals, constant moisture and heavy impact. Unlike thin coatings, it can be laid several millimetres thick and even handles steam-cleaning and boiling spills without delaminating — which is why it is the standard for HACCP and food-grade facilities.

Where cementitious urethane is specified

We install it in commercial kitchens and food-processing areas, breweries and wineries, coolstores and freezers, wash-down and wet-process zones, and any floor exposed to thermal cycling or harsh cleaning chemicals. It can be laid with a coved skirting for a seamless, hygienic junction between floor and wall.

Installed to specification

These systems demand correct substrate preparation, moisture assessment and precise mixing and placement. We grind and profile the slab, set the cove and falls where needed, then lay the urethane concrete to manufacturer specification so it performs for years in conditions that would destroy a lesser floor.

The products and systems we use

Cementitious urethane (PU-cement) is the toughest floor we install — built for food and beverage plants, commercial kitchens and wet, hot, chemically-aggressive areas. We trowel and screed systems such as Sika Sikafloor PurCem HM-20 and self-smoothing PurCem HS-21, and food-grade Mapei Mapefloor CPU/MF and heavy-duty Mapefloor CPU/HD. These handle thermal shock from steam and washdown, heavy impact and harsh chemicals without breaking down.

Why choose Goliath Coatings

Cementitious urethane FAQs

Q: Why choose cementitious urethane over epoxy?

A: It handles heat, thermal shock, constant moisture and aggressive chemicals far better than epoxy, making it the right choice for kitchens, coolstores and food plants.

Q: Can it handle steam cleaning and hot spills?

A: Yes — quality urethane concrete tolerates thermal shock and hot wash-down, which is exactly why food and beverage sites specify it.

Q: Is it food-safe?

A: Yes — it is widely used in HACCP and food-grade facilities and can be coved to walls for a seamless, hygienic finish.

Q: What flooring survives a commercial kitchen or food plant?

A: Cementitious urethane systems like Sikafloor PurCem or Mapefloor CPU — they take steam cleaning, thermal shock and chemical spills that would lift a standard epoxy.
