What façade coatings do

On plaster and textured finishes, an elastomeric coating flexes over hairline cracking that would otherwise let water in and worsen with every temperature cycle.

Preparation and access
As with any coating, preparation decides the lifespan — we wash down, treat any defects and cracks, and prime where needed before topcoating. We work from scaffold, EWP or rope access to suit the building, and stage the work to minimise disruption to occupants and trading below.

On concrete, block and tilt-slab we use Resene X-200 weathertight membrane as the NZ-proven three-coat system, step up to high crack-bridging Resene X-300E on cracked or deteriorating walls, and apply Dulux AcraTex Elastomeric 201 and high-build AcraShield Advance where anti-carbonation and texture are specified. We assess the substrate and exposure before choosing the build.
